Apple Crescents
‣This recipe is so easy and delicious, you’ll love making it for brunch or to impress your dinner guests with a beautiful, individual-sized dessert. Great any season, but especially in the fall with a cup of hot winter wassail. Thanks, Dorothy – from my favorite coffee shop.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Using an apple corer with wedge cutter, partially core/cut apple 3/4 of the way down; keep the bottom and all wedges attached at the bottom. On a greased cookie pan, place 4 crescent rolls, with the widest sides meeting and slightly on top of each other, making 4 sets. Using a pastry brush, baste the crescent rolls with butter. Mix sugar, cinnamon and orange rind together. Sprinkle half of the mixture over all the crescents. Set aside. Partially core apples 3/4 of the way using a wedge cutter apple corer. Remove core keeping the bottom of the apple and wedges in tack. Place an apple in center of each crescent center. In the center of the apple, place 1/4 teaspoons butter, 1/4 teaspoon sugar mixture, 1 whole nutmeg, 1 cinnamon stick. Holding the apple together, bring the 4 crescent dough over the apple, sticking the points onto the apple’s center, making sure the dough fits snugly over apple. Lightly brush on remaining butter and sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture. Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes or until dough is fully cooked and golden brown. Serves 4.
